Scientology

I've decided to look at a more modern 'religion', that of Scientology. The official site is: http://www.scientology.org/

However, the official site will not give you all of the information you are looking for because you have to pay a certain amount to learn more within this religion. This in some ways relates to the capitalist society of today, even religion doesn't come for free.

"The ultimate goal of Scientology is true spiritual enlightenment and freedom." This automatically relates to America because of the idea of freedom being the one thing that everyone wants to achieve or to aim for.

It claims to be a religion for the 21st century and rightfully so with its "state-of-the-art film and audio facilities at Golden Era Productions. Set on 500 acres in Southern California, this is the worldwide dissemination center for the entire Scientology religion, responsible for all film, video, television, Internet and international event production."

To be up to date with todays society makes this religion more accessible than the others, which could be considered uncool and boring.

This religion also has the added appeal of celebrity followers such as Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Peaches Geldolf, Katie Holmes and Juliette Lewis. Again bringing it into the 21st century.
