Pro and Anti Latino Immigration

This weeks blog task was to find one website supporting anti-Latino immigration and one pro-Latino immigration. This subject has a wide range of groups and websites and therefore information was relatively easy to obtain.

The first website is called "Latino Decisions - Everything Latino Politics". The website seems very established as there is a link to there Facebook page and you can subscribe for emails that send you information about the organisation. Their current research is focused mainly on states that the Latinos votes will play an important role in the 2012 elections. In 2010 the polls mainly focused on immigration reform, health care and the economy. The polls for the 2010-11 will look at the main issues concerning the Latino community. For example, attitudes towards Latin Americans in Congress.

On the home page there are many news reports about the Latino community in politics. One of the stories is about President Barak Obama and how the Latino vote will make a significant difference to the voting system. This shows that the Latin community has become established enough to make a large difference in the American society and therefore can makes significant changes. This image shows the four states that Obama won over due to the Latino vote.

The next website is called "White pride, World Wide". White pride is a slogan indicating pride in being white. White pride claims themselves as being a cultural group and that only certain ethnic groups can join but they claim not to be racist. However they believe that the United States should be a WASP (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant). The group have been criticised for being white separatist. The movement is a relatively new phenomenon and they mainly focus on immigration in the last part of the 20th century up until the present.

The first thing that caught my eye on this web page is that there is an Anti-Mexican Rally that is held bi-monthly. This is to encourage Nationalists, Conservatives and Racialists groups to protest all together. The idea is to get as much coverage as possible in the hope that these rallies will go national and therefore spread the word. The second aspect that grabbed my attention was the fact that this group believe that their heritage is being taken away by Mexican Immigrants. One person said "We will take our civilization back!". This indicates that White Pride feel that these immigrants specifically Mexicans are removing and changing society in such a way that they feel America and its ideals are not Americanised anymore.
